Privacy policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Porcom works without an account or sign-up. Your movies, series, sessions, notes and verdicts are stored on your iPhone and in your iCloud, and we never receive them.
This policy explains what information the Porcom app for iPhone handles, and why. Porcom is made by Wibeset, in Canada.
What stays with you
Everything you add to Porcom is stored on your device:
- your movies and seasons, and their status (to watch, watching, watched, abandoned, spotted);
- the episode you’re on, your progress and your viewing sessions;
- your verdicts, theme ratings, notes and quotes;
- your statistics, streaks and calendar;
- your settings, such as your yearly goal and the themes you rate.
If iCloud is turned on for Porcom, this data is also synced with your private iCloud account, so you can find it on another iPhone. Apple keeps it under its own terms; we can’t access it. We have no server that keeps your data, and we can’t see it.
Looking up movies and series
When you search for a title, Porcom sends your search directly from your iPhone to TMDB (The Movie Database) to get the poster, summary, cast, episodes and trailer. Images are downloaded from TMDB’s servers. TMDB receives the words you type, the ID of the title you open and, as with any internet request, your IP address. It doesn’t receive your journal, your notes or any other data from the app.
A title’s page shows where to watch it in Canada, from JustWatch data provided by TMDB. This data is requested on each visit and isn’t stored. TMDB handles this information under its privacy policy. Porcom uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Trailers
Trailers come from YouTube. Nothing is loaded until you tap play: YouTube’s player then opens in the app, in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Google may receive your IP address and store data once playback starts, under Google’s Privacy Policy. “Open in YouTube” opens the video in the YouTube app or your browser.
Links
Porcom can open a title’s page on TMDB, a streaming service’s site or the Porcom blog on Tumblr. These sites open in your browser and handle your visit under their own privacy policies. Porcom shares no app data with them. Porcom uses no affiliate links.
Backups and sharing
You can export your journal to a backup file (.porcom) or to a CSV file for Letterboxd, and share a title, a quote or your calendar as an image. Porcom may remind you to back up with a card in the app; it never sends notifications. This only happens when you ask, and the file or image only goes where you choose to save or send it. We never receive it.
Camera and photos
Porcom asks for camera access to photograph the subtitles of a line you want to keep. The text is recognized on your iPhone, only the text you keep is saved, and no image is kept or sent. If you pick a screenshot from your photo library instead, Porcom only sees the image you pick. You can turn off camera access at any time in Settings, and keep typing your quotes.
Reporting a problem
“Report a problem”, in Profile, prepares an email with the app version, your iPhone model, your iOS version, the number of titles in your journal and the app’s log of recent errors. It doesn’t include your titles or notes. You read it before sending it, and nothing is sent without you.
Usage statistics and crash reports
Porcom includes no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking tools. If you chose, in your iPhone’s settings, to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, which help us fix bugs. They don’t identify you and don’t include your journal. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
What we don’t do
- We don’t ask for your name, your email address or an account.
- We don’t show ads or track you across other apps or websites.
- We don’t sell or share your information.
Deleting your data
Since your data is on your iPhone and in your iCloud, you stay in control. You can delete titles, notes and sessions in the app. Deleting Porcom erases its data from your device; to erase the iCloud copy too, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage. Earlier backups may still contain it until they’re replaced or deleted.
Children
Porcom collects no personal information, including from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Porcom handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
